Spicy Mango Smoothie! (Spicy Optional)

I love the market: mounds of fresh fruits and vegetables and loud mouthed stall-holders yelling their prices. The whole experience makes me smile. Happy Hour, or the hour or so before closing, is the highlight of any trip to the market as produce prices are too low to turn down. You might end up with 10kg of apples, or in this case, a bag of ripe mangoes. These mangoes, along with some other great market finds, blend together to bring you the Spicy Mango Smoothie.

Mangoes are so good, it is easy to forget how healthy they are! This alkalizing fruit helps lower cholesterol with its high amount of fiber, pectin, and Vitamin C, all while helping to prevent cancers. They are also great for your digestion and immune system and contain vitamins A, B6, and E.

Spicy Mango Smoothie

1 ripe mango
1/2 banana
1/2 lime, juiced
1/4 jalapeño
1 big handful fresh spinach (or any green you wish)
1 cup almond milk (or 1 heaping Tbsp almond butter and 1 cup water)
1 tsp chia seeds

  • Add all ingredients to your blender and blend on high until smooth. Feel free to use more or less of the jalapeño to suit your taste : )

Freeze cut up fruit for a few hours or add a couple of ice cubes to make it cold.
